Chhota Bheem - Original Animated TV Series coming soon
Only two days left for the website launch…
It is indeed welcome news that so many of our Indian animation studios developing original content for television and the big screen.
Green Gold Animation Pvt. Ltd., who previously brought ‘Krishna’ to Indian TV screens, are now creating a new 2D cartoon series called ‘Mighty Little Bheem’ (Chhota Bheem) .

Although Bheem’s character is based on the legendary Bheem from the Mahabharata, the story is new and unrelated to the great epic. .
Synopsis:
The series is set in an imaginary town, Dholakpur in rural India and revolves around Bheem, a nine year old boy, who is a brave, strong & intelligent. His rival is Kalia Pahelwan, a jealous eleven year old bully, who is envious of Bheem’s popularity. Kalia, along with his sidekicks, Dholu and Bholu, always plots to embarrass and defeat Bheem but he never succeeds. All the children of Dholakpur look up to Bheem, as he solves everyone’s problems. Chutki, Raju and Jaggu the monkey are his closest friends.
The Chhota Bheem Series (13 x 22’) is currently in production and would be ready to air by March 2008, in 4 languages - Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu and is targeted at children aged between 6 and 12.
Let us hope, for the sake of the Indian animation industry, that this trend of creating original content not only continues but flourishes.

With just 7 days left now for the launch of the website, we are getting experts on the subject of animation to write for us as well.
On the first day of the Chitrakatha Festival at NID, there was a special presentation by Binita Desai, Associate Professor, Animation Designer, DAIICT, Gandhinagar, to commemorate the completion of 20 years by the animation department at NID. She has generously shared the transcript of the presentation for our readers.
A wonderful selection of films by students through the years was screened after Binita’s compelling talk on the origin of the animation department at NID and all the people that made it possible. Here is a list of the films that were screened followed by the transcript of Binita’s presentation.
Indian Women in Animation
Ever wondered why there are so few Indian women in animation known for their work? I did. Reasons are plenty and varied but none too convincing. So instead of just complaining about it, we made it our mission to promote and honour our women animators from India on the All About Animation website.
The first on our list is Shilpa Ranade, animator and assistant professor at IDC, Mumbai. We caught up with her at the IIT campus and you will be able to read the interview and also catch a glimpse of some of her work on the AAA website.
The wait isn’t too long. The launch is just 8 days away now!
The countdown begins…
Just 9 days to go for the launch of the All About Animation website and our team is on its toes. Or fingertips should we say, as we tap away at the keyboard, putting together the portal section by section, compiling data, interviewing people, syndicating animated films from students, independent animators and studios. We will keep you ‘posted’ on the progress through the blog, though for the next few days, our posts may not be regular as we dedicate ourselves 24/7 to getting the site ready by the 1st of December.
Tomorrow we will give our readers a sneak peek into the AAA website when we post a screen snapshot of the home page. Stay tuned!
